Poverty Alleviation of All-China Federation of Trade Unions

　　【Overview】 In 2011, All-China Federation of Trade Unions seriously studied and implemented the “Notice on Further Promoting the Fixed-pointed Poverty Alleviation” of the General Office of State Council and LGOP and the “Outline for Development-oriented Poverty Reduction for China’s Rural Areas (2011-2020)”, did a good job of fixed-point poverty alleviation in Heshun County of Shanxi Province, and invested a total of 1.5 million Yuan of relief funds and material donations of 250,000 Yuan.

　　【Industrial poverty alleviation】  We successfully applied for the protection for landmark beef cattle products of Heshun County to increase the income of local farmers; invested 30,000 Yuan to hold trainings on walnut tree planting and management and pest control techniques for more than 100 walnut planting specialized households and members of walnut production cooperatives of three towns in the walnut production park, as well as the cadres of key villages for walnut planting; Issued relief funds of 70,000 Yuan in Xiaomiao Village of Pingsong Town to engage in potato planting with Wangjundou high-yield potato planting technique and two kinds of traditional planting methods to explore the potato planting techniques for increase in production; introduced new varieties of honeysuckle and kiwi and guided the villagers to try to grow herbs and southern fruit; mainly supported the folk arts and crafts workshops with local characteristics to enhance the popularity of local grain painting, embroidery, root carving and other handicraft products and create and extend the industrial chain.

　　【Intellectual poverty alleviation】 Through online video lectures and field demonstration, we held the trainings of farming, employment transfer, handicrafts, teachers and rural doctors; improved the Tsinghua remote teaching stations and upgraded the hardware to support the poverty reduction by distance education.

　　【Poverty alleviation by education and social undertakings】We introduced the advantageous teaching resources of the colleges and key middle schools in Beijing, developed special training programs relying on Beijing No. 4 Middle School, Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, the Central Conservatory of Music and Beijing Sports University, invited relevant experts to give lectures and sent relevant persons to receive trainings to improve the teaching quality and enrollment quotas of the high schools in Heshun County; through sending teachers and medical workers to the countryside and coordinating relevant units to get involved in with great love, we promoted education and medical technology in local areas to popularize agricultural knowledge, improve the quality of teaching and medical services and improve the medical conditions.

　　【Infrastructure construction】  We invested nearly 100,000 Yuan to construct floor heating projects for 39 demonstrative rural households in 16 model villages of 10 towns and improve the tap water projects for rural households in Xianshengtang Village; invested 99,900 Yuan of relief funds for Xianshengtang Village of Pingsong Town to repair and reinforce its impounding reservoir of 100 cubic meters, build three control valves, lay pipelines of 1771 meters, install 49 sets of household facilities to make the water flow to the rural households based on altitude difference of ground, benefiting 49 households and 210 people and solving the drinking water problems of 570 heads of livestock; and improved the eaves rainwater harvesting pilot project of Donghehui Village. On the basis of one 15-20-cubic meter pond for each rural household of Donghehui Village in Pingsong Town, we invested 90,000 Yuan of relief funds to lay pipelines of 850 meters for the village, directly benefiting 102 people, 155 heads of livestock and vegetable field of 20 mu, improving the production and living conditions of the farmers in mountain areas and increasing the income of local farmers.
