Poverty Alleviation of All China Federation of Trade Unions

　　【Overview】 In 2010, All China Federation of Trade Unions serious implemented the major strategic decisions of the Central Party Committee and the State Council on speeding up the process of poverty alleviation and development, strengthened the field research and guidance on anti-poverty work, developed poverty relief plan, successfully completed the handover of the 7th batch of poverty relief personnel, steadily promoted the fixed-point poverty alleviation in Heshun County of Shanxi Province, invested a total of 1.5 million Yuan of ant-poverty funds and donated materials worth 2.48 million Yuan, did a great deal of work in skills training, project funding and boosting social development and achieved good results.

　　【Poverty alleviation by project construction】 In accordance with the financial aid plan of All China Federation of Trade Unions, more than 70 poverty relief projects were implemented, of which 20 were key anti-poverty projects. It introduced 6 sophisticated technologies, strengthened the demonstrative promotion of new species for dry fruit economic forests and the demonstrative walnut forest area expanded from 2,000 mu to more than 8,000 mu, becoming a stable source of future income of the farmers. It introduced artificial insemination technology for pig breeding to optimize the species and reduce costs, expanded the breeding scale and filled the gaps in Heshun County. It promoted the establishment of farmers' flowers cooperatives. Through loan subsidy for flower greenhouses, it helped to establish the first large-scale flower market in local area, which increased source of income of local residents and beautified local life. Meanwhile, it encouraged the development of farmers’ cooperatives. As of the end of 2010, nearly 300 farmers’ cooperatives had been set up.

　　【Technical trainings】 Taking technical training as an important part of the fixed-point poverty reduction, relying on and by integrating the training resources of Heshun County Poverty Alleviation Bureau, Heshun Agricultural Bureau, Technological Bureau, Forestry Bureau and Office of Agricultural Economics, All China Federation of Trade Unions held six trainings on pioneering work and farming and more than 8400 cadres and masses attended the trainings. It also exported 220 labors.

　　【Construction of technology service platform】 Based on the achievements made in 2009, All China Federation of Trade Unions improved the science project - 110 service station, further expanded the coverage of the project, strengthened propaganda, provided richer information, improved the services and provided technology consulting, purchase and marketing information as well as logistics distribution service for farmers. Through the construction of the information technology platform for the "three rural" issues, it built a “bridge” for the poor to get rich. Meanwhile, All China Federation of Trade Unions implemented green channel projects to provide a series of services for farmers, aiming to enhance the capacity of farmers for shaking off poverty and becoming rich by science and technology.

　　【Poverty alleviation by education】 In 2010, in order to enhance the level of education in Heshun County, All China Federation of Trade Unions helped the county to establish a pairing-off poverty reduction relationship with Beijing No.4 Middle School and invited teachers of special grade from Beijing No.4 Middle School to carry out teaching trainings in Heshun County, which improved the quality of teachers in Heshun County, enhanced the children's interest in learning and broadened their horizons. Meanwhile, All China Federation of Trade Unions invested 100,000 Yuan or so for the renovation of the remote education-based poverty alleviation website of Heshun County and, through contacting Shanxi Agricultural University, made it the remote teaching base of Shanxi Agricultural University. The agricultural technical trainings provided hardware support and convenience for young farmers to shake off poverty and get rich by learning.
